P/T GROUP FACILITATOR

AMS is seeking a group co-facilitator to assist facilitate and provide education once a week for 1-2 men's group for court ordered Domestic Violence offenders. This is a very part-time job and is contracted as independent. Professional trainings will or may be required. You will shadow our seasoned facilitators for three months to acquire 100 training hours in groups. See more below.


Group hours are:

  • Monday 3-5pm in Lompoc and/or
  • Monday and/or Wednesday 7-9pm in Santa Maria


Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate or co-facilitate a group once a week (includes some administrative tasks)
  • Collaborate with program director and facilitator, be open to give and receive feedback while training
  • Maintain Client Records and related data systems, including case notes and progress notes required for court reports
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to guidelines of ethical/legal guidelines of counseling
  • Prepares reports including but not limited to: outcomes, successes, etc.


Qualifications and Requirements:

  • A minimum of 1 years of group facilitating experience strongly preferred
  • A minimum of a Bachelor degree in psy/social work (interns welcome, but no BBS/clinical hours provided) or
    Substance Abuse/ Addiction certification counseling, or
    Marriage Family Therapy (license is welcome but AMS provides psycho-education, not therapy, nor psychotherapy)
  • 40 hour Domestic Violence Training Certification (see training log) and S.T.O.P Partner who Abuse
  • Experience leading or co-leading groups with ability to build rapport with boundaries.
    Experience working with men in general, and men with history of incarceration is strongly preferred
    Strong communication skills, both verbal, written and electronic.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team;
  • Must be proficient in the following computer applications--Microsoft Word, Excel, DropBox
  • Must have own transportation to conduct job related travel; and
  • Must successfully complete a background check and meet insurance carrier’s requirements for approval to drive.
  • Complete a Live scan for SB county Probation


Must have:

  • Own laptop to use in group to show videos
  • Reliable transportation with proof of car insurance
  • Professional Liability Insurance at your own cost
  • Complete 16 CEU's of DV per year 
  • Knowledge of Domestic Violence dynamics and basic Anger Management skills. You will be asked to show certifications

  • Must have a healthy lifestyle, free of substance use, with no current or recent relationship with unresolved Domestic Abuse or any abuse (this job can be triggering).  

Must have a  support system. We suggest going to counseling, and/or seek clinical supervision, have support group of some sort. This position is not to be used in lieu of therapy.
